+90 212 345 67 89GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) is an organization that means Global Food Safety Initiative. GFSI is not a standard itself, but rather an umbrella structure that recognizes and benchmarks different food safety standards. The main standards recognized by GFSI are internationally recognized management systems such as BRCGS, IFS, FSSC 22000, SQF, and GLOBALG.A.P.
The process progresses through current situation analysis, document creation, field applications, training, internal audits, and corrective actions, and concludes with announced/unannounced audits conducted by an independent certification body.
For companies operating in the food sector, reliability, hygiene, traceability, and quality management are of critical importance. Therefore, various internationally recognized certifications are of great value both for complying with legal requirements and increasing customer trust. ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, BRCGS, and IFS standards are preferred for food safety. The necessity of GMP and GHP practices stands out in terms of production hygiene. Additionally, depending on the production type, Organic, Vegan, Gluten Free, Non-GMO, Halal, and Kosher certifications can be obtained to document the suitability of products for relevant consumer groups. ISO 9001 for quality management, ISO 14001 for environmental responsibility, and ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety certifications are also preferred.
Both standards are recognized by GFSI. They differ in terms of audit methods, scoring systems, and some technical requirements. IFS differs from BRCGS more in terms of scoring and non-conformity management.
